NORTHERN CHILENOS OF CHILE (chee-LAY-noh). The Northern Chileno Strategy Group writes: "Over the past few months, you have been praying for various volunteer teams that have come to northern Chile to work among the people here, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Your prayers have been evident, as Christ has been shared in neighborhoods with little or no evangelical presence. We have seen an openness that we have never experienced before. God is indeed moving, and we have felt your prayers opening doors. During the week before Easter, a volunteer team conducted several Bible Clubs with an unprecedented response--not only from children, but also from youth and adults. At a couple of evangelistic services, there was 'standing room only,' with people standing outside listening as well. Pray for the missionaries of northern Chile as we follow up on those who expressed an interest. Pray for true revival to break out across northern Chile." http://www.arvteam.com/

SOFIA, BULGARIA (SOH-fee-uh). Two college students will be arriving this month to spend the summer doing student outreach ministry in Sofia. Thank the Lord for supplying these workers! Please remember them and the students with whom they will come in contact. Ask the Father to prepare the soil to receive the seed of His Word and to bring forth a great harvest. Pray that the seeds will not be snatched away and choked out by the cares of this world. The goal is to have a Bible study group started that will continue at the end of the summer when they have to return to their college studies. Pray for these two students to be blessed and to grow closer to our Father during their time here and for them to be a blessing to the people with whom they will come in contact. pray4bg@yahoo.com; http://www.teambulgaria.org/

CHINA. Surveillance and expulsion are real threats for international Christians serving in China. Chinese Christians who are fervent in witness face the possibility of even more severe persecution. Yet thousands of workers and millions of local believers count the cost and move forward into the fields of service with great determination to make His name known. Pray today for all who give their lives so that His kingdom can come and His will be done on earth as in heaven.

FULBE OF NIGERIA (FUL-bay). The Fulbe Team thanks you for praying for the Annual Northeast Baptist Conference that was held in February. Several churches have committed to help with Fulbe ministry this year. Plans are being made to train these churches in the “Creation to Christ” evangelism method that has been very effective with Muslim peoples. Also in the planning stages is the selection of specific villages for outreach. Pray that this training will be effective in bringing many Fulbe to Christ. Also ask God to open doors and enable the Fulbe Team and Nigerian Baptists to enter the villages that they want to reach. Most importantly, pray that they will be led by the Spirit of God and follow His plan.

50 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR CUBA. A retired pastor walks the mountainous countryside for hours each day. He stops at homes and along the way to tell everyone he meets the good news of Jesus. Last year he made 2,640 visits, all on foot, to share the gospel. That is an average of 220 visits per month, and about seven visits per day--and he is 88 years old! “Pray that the Lord will lengthen my life, to be able to keep working in the Lord’s service,” he asks. “Pray that Cuba might be won to Christ,” he adds. As Cuban Baptists are in the midst of the “50 Days of Prayer for Cuba” emphasis, please ask the Lord for 1 million Cubans to come to Christ, and for a church to be started within walking distance of each one during the next three years. Pray for others, like this retired pastor, who daily share their faith with those in Cuba who do not know Christ. fiftydaysofprayer@50dias.org

LAST FRONTIER. “When a farmer puts a tiny seed in the ground, covers it with dirt, and continues to water it, he is not always worried about that individual seed sprouting because he has planted so many in his fields. But when an overseas worker plants a truth in a heart, he knows he might not ever see that person again in order to cover that truth and water it. So the worker worries that the seed might never sprout in that individual’s heart, and he worries about the rocks/obstacles in the way and the birds/enemy who want to devour the seed. But we praise God continually for His promise that His Word will not return void! Would you join so many of us workers who are planting seeds in hearts and pray that these truths will be watered and will sprout and grow into a marvelous plant that glorifies God? Pray for seeds planted in both believing and unbelieving hearts, for God is still tending the plants that have started growing in His garden.”

IMB FOCUS
NORTH SUMATRA MALAY OF INDONESIA (MAY-lay). In February, you were asked to pray about a series of training sessions for men concerning community development that would take place in one village of North Sumatra Malay. Give thanks that these meetings allowed the men to learn important principles from the Word concerning using talents, time and money wisely. After these training sessions were completed, the men formed a committee to choose one project from among the eight ideas that emerged from this training. Please continue to pray that as this committee of men meets, they will learn to work together, trust each other, and consider the needs of the whole village rather than their own personal gain. A major obstacle seems to be the lack of trust men have for each other. This is evident between families as well.

CRIOLLO OF NORTHERN ARGENTINA (cree-OL-yoh). Missionary David Holt, the strategy coordinator for the Northern Argentine Criollo, has a vision for reaching the hard-to-get-to populations in the interior of the province of Corrientes. He plans to unite the tourism industry with evangelism. "Corrientes has much to offer outdoorsmen, especially those interested in hunting and fishing. Many of our people, the Criollo, are employed in the tourism trade as guides, equipment experts and the like, throughout the hunting and fishing businesses. The Northern Argentine Criollo Strategy Group is working together to focus on regions of the province ideal for hunting, fishing and evangelism. We plan to bring in Christian hunters and fisherman as evangelistic volunteers. Among the Criollo people, the men are the hardest to reach, mostly due to a wrong idea about who Jesus is. Bringing in Christian men who treat their Criollo guides with respect and agape love, while sharing their interest in the outdoors, will open doors to sharing the gospel and create opportunities for missionaries to follow up with those interested in learning more about the real Jesus Christ. Please pray with us that the details for the strategy will be worked through, and that God will continue to work in the hearts of those whom He is preparing both to give and to receive the message of the Good News." http://www.nacriollo.com/

TSWANA OF BOTSWANA (t'SWAN-ah). While taking her own children to a Friday children's meeting at Gaborone Baptist Church, missionary Lisa Jones was overwhelmed at all the neighborhood children who were in attendance. These meetings have been going on for years, and the church has been so faithful in reaching out to the children of Gaborone. They sing, they play games and, most importantly, they hear and respond to the Word of God. Please praise God for these children's meetings as well as for the pastor's wife and the youth who lead these beautiful children. Also ask God to use these times to raise up the next generation of Christians in this country. Pray that they will carry the message of the gospel to the nation of Botswana.

CATALONIANS OF WESTERN EUROPE (KAT-uh-loh-nee-ans). "Thank you, Lord, and thank you prayer partners," workers write. "In answer to your prayers, we now have a new sister in Christ! At the end of the ongoing discipleship Bible study, C. expressed her desire to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, and she did so through a beautiful prayer. Another reason for rejoicing is that the believer in whose apartment the Bible studies are being held prayed a prayer of reconciliation to God. After the death of a loved one, she has had faith issues. Please continue to pray for A., as she is every day closer to surrendering to Christ. Pray that these new believers will follow Jesus in baptism and will continue their growth through a lifelong study of God's Word." Bcn_sos@yahoo.es

CHURCH PLANTING IN ZIMBABWE. The topic of repentance and revival seems to be popping up everywhere you go these days in Zimbabwe. People have done all they can to make ends meet, and it is not enough. The despair and hopelessness are evident wherever you go. People are saying, "Only God can help us now!" They are right. Only God can. But first, God's children must be living in obedience to Him. The situation in Zimbabwe makes this time ripe for revival. Pray for God's Spirit to move mightily across Zimbabwe in the coming days.

KURDS OF IRAN. Please pray for two Iranian Sorani-speaking Kurds, K and R. They are newly married and have only been believers for a short period of time. Nonetheless, they are growing strong in their faith. Both K and R are Kurds from the western Iranian province of Kordestan (which means Kurdistan). However, they have not lived there for some time. K and R want to return to their home province, where there are only a few believers and house groups out of several million people, to do evangelism and church-planting work. Please pray for them as they step out in faith in this ministry. Ask God to provide for their needs and to give them trusted partners in the work. Pray that God will save many Sorani Kurds in the province of Kordestan in Iran. doulos@comcast.net

IMB Focus:
COLOMBIA. Thank you for praying for the men's group from the El Camino Baptist Church who has adopted an evangelistic ministry project to two poverty-level barrios (neighborhoods) in their city. One group goes out every other Sunday morning. The other group makes their visits on Sunday afternoons. To reach each location requires several bus rides and one-and-a half to two hours of time (one way). The men have responded in a great way, and several teams have been formed so that no one person is overburdened. Please pray for the people who live in these two barrios, asking that they will hunger to hear God's Word, that they will open their homes to these men, and that the men of the barrio, as well as the women and children who are already attending, will participate.

MOROCCAN ARABS OF MOROCCO (muh-RAH-kan). Your heart aches with each pump of blood to your exhausted body. Your lungs are afire. Water streams out of your eyes--your body's attempt to ease the damage of the biting sand, burning sun, and intense heat. Your legs are numb, except for the occasional stabbing throb of an ill-placed step on the rocky terrain. Despite the pain and suffering, you have chosen to run this race--the Marathon de Sables: a grueling competition occurring every April, and spanning 151 miles through the Moroccan Sahara. Every year, approximately 500 participants carry provisions on their backs, running during the day and sleeping in communal Berber tents to keep warm during the near-freezing temperatures at night. The metaphor of a race is used to describe the Christian life: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us" (Hebrews 12:1, KJV). Pray for our Moroccan Arab brothers and sisters who face persecution and suffering while struggling to be faithful in following Jesus. Praise God that He does not leave them alone, but strengthens and provides for them while they follow Him. Ask that believers will have strength to "run in such a way as to get the prize" (1 Corinthians 9:24b, NIV), and that others will see that it is worth the temporal pain of this life to follow Christ. http://www.experiencename.com/

CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN YI OF CHINA (ee). A brother has been sharing his faith boldly, despite the cost and persecution that comes with doing so. He has suffered much, both physically and financially. Like many others from the villages, he has found tempting the call to go east to China's large cities. The promise of work and money there is not always realized, but the poverty here is palpable. Yet kingdom work needs his voice in the mountains of his ethnic homelands. Pray that the Lord will provide him all that he needs, body and soul, through a good harvest and deliverance from trouble. Pray that small business opportunities will arise to keep him in the villages, and his witness among the people. The path he follows is a difficult one, but he is learning anew about trusting the Lord in everything. "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear....But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:25, 33). http://Yi.peoples.org
